LYRICS BORN “YES, BAY AREA” DEBUT BOOK RELEASE EVENT @ THE INDEPENDENT SF, CA

May 15th, 2012

L-Beezies!
It is official, and we are very excited to announce the debut book from Lyrics Born; “Yes, Bay Area”.

“Yes, Bay Area” is a collection of Tweets that have been compiled from over the past 2 years and features LB’s funny and insightful musings on the San Francisco Bay Area’s rich and diverse culture.

Prompted by the suggestions of hundreds of fans on Twitter and Facebook, “Yes, Bay Area” is the first of its kind for LB and sees the veteran MC, Producer and Voiceover artist once again stepping into new territory and breaking new ground in a career constantly expanded by his bold and out-of-the-box approach.
Featuring artwork by the Bay Area’s own, Eddie Colla and Jason Malig, the book is through and through a testament to the San Francisco Bay Area.

“Hapa dude from Berkeley with Italian hair, Cajun accent, and intergalactic mic skills capturing the funniest observations on the quirks of the 510, 415, 408, 650, and 707 since Richard Pryor stalked these same streets? Yes, world. You’ve come to the right book.”

—Jeff Chang Award winning author of “Can’t Stop Won’t Stop” and “Total Chaos: The Art & Aesthetics of Hip-Hop”

“We’ve got much more than 140 characters in the Bay… but 140 is all LB needs to rock these compulsively-readable, hilarious, and incisive mini-portraits. If you live here, you’ll be nodding your head in recognition… and if you don’t, well, you’re fucking up. But at least now you’ve got a field guide.”

– Adam Mansbach, author of the #1 New York Times bestseller “Go the Fuck to Sleep”.

The e-book will be available for download June 12th, 2012 and also available at the Official “Yes, Bay Area” Book Release Event at the Independent in San Francisco, CA!

Presented in conjunction with the Bay Area’s own LitQuake, June 16th, 2012 will be a celebration of epic proportions as LB brings his full LIVE band to The Independent in San Francisco, CA featuring Jazz Mafia, Joyo Velarde, Kat O1O, Skins & Needles and many more.
In honor of this momentous occasion, LB has curated a very special night of music, comedy and surprises to celebrate his foray into the literary world with special guests Bayonics, Berkeley native, Adam Mansbach (best-selling author of the book “Go The Fu*k To Sleep”) and hosted by the very funny, Joey Guila!!

LATYRX, JOSEPH GORDON-LEVITT, HITRECORD, PRETTY LIGHTS & RIFFLANDIA

September 9th, 2011

Daaaaaaaaaaaaang!
It’s been a crazy past couple of months here at LB HQ.
In addition to all of the Lyrics Born business we’ve been handlin’ we’ve also been keepin’ things movin’ with the Latyrx re-union that just keeps on going!
Things kicked off at Outside Lands with a very special re-union show where LB & Lateef performed with the Jazz Mafia Orchestra ft. Skins & Needles, Kat Ouano and Joyo Velarde to a sold-out crowd of thousands! Soon after, the duo played a special private show for the folks at Google HQ.

It wasn’t but a week later that actor and artist extraordinaire, Joseph Gordon-Levitt (The Dark Knight Rises, 50/50, Inception, Hesher, 500 Days of Summer) asked LB & Lateef to join him on stage at the Regency Ballroom for a very special night of film, music and discussion. One of the topics of the night was vinyl records and remixes.
Joe, founder of hitRECord.org (a community of artists mixing their skills to create unique and original content), thought of none other than Quannum Projects to represent the Bay Area on the topic.
2 days prior to the event Joe and his team hit up the guys and by showtime they were ready to not only talk vinyl, but were joined by DJ Zeph (Skins & Needles, Oakland Faders) to perform a live remix on stage.

The following video gives you a taste of the action that went down that night with the first of a two part series of videos from the Regency Ballroom. Check it out:

A very special thanks to not only Joe, but the entire hitRECord.org community.
It was an amazing night and we can’t wait to get together and collaborate again!

If you need that Latyrx fix, don’t miss LB & Lateef performing this coming Sunday (9/11) at Big Sky Brewery in Missoula, MT as they join Pretty Lights for a night of amazing music.
But wait, that’s not all — later in the month LB heads north to Canada for the Rifflandia Festival in Victoria, BC on 9/24 with Joyo Velarde and Skins & Needles.

We’ve got more dates coming very soon, so keep checking back in at LyricsBorn.com and keep up-to-date on all things Latyrx at LatyrxAuthentic.com

Looking forward we’re hella juiced about the latest Latyrx show coming up this Sunday (September 4th, 2011) at the North Coast Music Festival in Chicago, IL.

So get your tickets to both and see what the Bay has been keepin’ under wraps all this time.

LATYRX @ OUTSIDE LANDS + UPCOMING LB SHOWS

August 16th, 2011

L-BEEZIES!!!!
This past Sunday was one for the history books as LB & Lateef hit the Sutro Stage at Outside Lands in San Francisco, CA for the official Latyrx re-union.
Joining them was the one-and-only Joyo Velarde, Skins & Needles, Kat O1O and a stripped down Jazz Mafia Orchestra, led by Adam Theis.
If you were there you know how amazing the show was — and if you weren’t, well, here are some photos to give you a taste of what you missed out on:

The dynamic duo tore through classic Latyrx tracks like “Lady Don’t Tek No”, “Storm Warning”, “8 Point Agenda”, “Say That” as well as some Lateef the Truthspeaker and LB tunes.
The highlight was the brand new Latyrx track “Hardship Enterprise” that everyone has been going nuts about.

All 3 days at Outside Lands were sold out and Latyrx’ performance was talked about as one of the top 3 of the entire weekend, rivaling The Roots & The Black Keys shows.
Here’s a short clip from the OL rehearsals:

Keeping it all the way funky, we wanna remind you that LB has a handful of midwest dates coming up later this month.
You can catch him with Joyo and Skins & Needles August 25th, 26th & 27th. Here are the dates and venues:

Aug 25th – Minneapolis, MN – The Cabooze
Aug 26th – Davenport, IA – Redstone Room
Aug 27th – Madison, WI – Orton Park

Get your tickets for these shows while you still can — they’re projected to sell out.
We have more LB shows coming soon as well as more Latyrx dates.
Summer may be ending, but the Fall is going to be HOT!
