As a self-proclaimed ‘foodie’, Lyrics Born has always been a lover of fine foods. Whether he’s sampling cuisines from all over the world while on tour or making his signature ‘Club Banger’ sandwich at home, the man’s palate is as diverse as his music.

Recently LB was asked to join host Leslie Sbrocco on her KQED show, ‘Check, Please! Yes Bay Area’ — a show that focuses on eateries around the Bay Area and reviews the spots chosen by Leslie’s 3 guests each episode.
As not only a fan of food, but also a fan of the show, LB was honored to be asked to participate.

March 11th, 2013

Recently LB stopped in to the KQED Studios to talk about his song, “The Bay” off of the album ‘SAME !@#$ DIFFERENT DAY’ for The California Report.

The San Francisco Bay Area has inspired more than its share of music, from Otis Redding’s “Sittin’ on the Dock of the Bay” to Tony Bennett, who left his heart in San Francisco, and “Lights” by Journey, to name just three. Add to that Berkeley-based rapper Tom Shimura — aka Lyrics Born — who regularly tweets and writes about life in the Bay Area. As part of our “California Songs” series, he talks with us about the inspiration for his song, “The Bay.”
